Brittany Barber, LMSW, Primary Therapist - Eating Disorder Unit

Brittany is a native of New Orleans who pursued a career in counseling as a means to join her interest in creative self expression with the transformative, healing power of talk therapy. Brittany utilizes a strengths perspective with a goal of empowering clients to draw upon their own gifts and resources to facilitate healing and cultivate a life worth living. Brittany is a Licensed Master Social Worker and earned her B.S. in Psychology and Master of Social Work degrees from Kennesaw State University. During her graduate training, Brittany completed internships in the school system as well as in a psychiatric residential treatment facility, in which she gained invaluable experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families presenting with a diverse range of needs, including depression and anxiety, body image issues, trauma, disordered eating, substance abuse, personality disorders, and suicidality and self-harm. Additionally, Brittany spent two years as a Graduate Research Assistant and contributed to research pertaining to the use of digital technology in therapeutic interventions, and she is currently finalizing a textbook chapter entitled “Developmentally Appropriate Apps”. Brittany is pursuing ongoing clinical supervision with the goal of obtaining licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. When she is not at Focus or spending time furthering her clinical knowledge, Brittany practices intentional self-care through oil painting, traveling, spending time with her family, being outdoors, and reading fiction.
