Caroline Whitaker, MS, NCC
Caroline completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she also graduated with her Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Spanish in 2015. Her professional experience includes individual and group counseling with children, adolescents, and adults; grief counseling; resilience training; leadership and skill development for teens; juvenile justice advocacy; and eating disorder counseling, research, and advocacy. Caroline is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, American Counseling Association, and Tennessee Counseling Association.
Caroline is excited to bring her unique brand of passion and creativity to the Focus team. Caroline subscribes to the Acceptance-Commitment Therapy model of treatment, and places great emphasis on self-compassion and cognitive flexibility as essential tools for recovery. She believes that the role of a therapist is to empower clients to live their best, most purposeful lives, and she strives to do this by helping her clients embrace and develop their own unique strengths, core values, and coping strategies to combat life’s ups and downs.
