Michael Meriweather


Michael Meriweather, M.A., NCC, Primary Counselor - Substance Use Disorder Unit

Michael is a Board Certified Professional Counselor with more than 30 years experience as a therapist. He earned a Master’s degree from Andrews University and graduated in the top 5% of his class.

He began his career path by co-founding a counseling center for adjudicated youth and their parents in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the primary family therapist who worked with a diverse group of youth and parents. His family systems approach was used as a model for sociology students/interns at IUPUI, Indiana University & Purdue University Indianapolis.

He co-authored a research project on the impact of self-esteem in the therapeutic process that was accepted by Harvard University School of family studies and published in their journal.

He began working with recovering people over 26 years ago as an outpatient therapist and more directly the past 7 years as a primary counselor with Focus Treatment Center. His strengths are connecting with people and being an architect of human growth for people and inspiring them to invest in their recovery.

He loves learning and is a confessed life long student. He enjoys the opportunity to help people rebuild their lives.
