Our approach is based on the work of Kristin Neff. She says, Instead of merciless judging and criticizing yourself for various inadequacies or shortcomings, self compassion means you are kind and understanding when confronted with personal failings.

Simply put, self compassion is compassion directed inward.

Neff's work consists of three main elements which we include in our programming : mindfulness versus over identification; common humanity versus isolation, and self-kindness versus self-judgement.

Research has shown that a regular practice of self-compassion regulates emotions, protects against maladaptive emotional states, increases cognitive flexibility, helps to foster psychological strengths, and increases ability to cope effectively.
