Substance Abuse Treatment
At Focus, recovery from drugs and/or alcohol is provided for adult men and women using a whole-person approach that honors the unique needs of each individual at every stage of the treatment and recovery process.
Treatment Program Details
Utilizing 12-step philosophies and a therapeutic framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we tailor treatment specifically for each patient understanding that everyone enters the process of recovery with their own unique story and background.
With this in mind, we treat every patient holistically evaluating emotional, physical and spiritual needs continually throughout their stay with us. We also engage our patients in intensive shame resiliency and self-compassion work, adventure therapy, skill building groups based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), intensive relapse prevention groups, expressive therapies such as art and gentle yoga, and weekly outings.
If detoxification and residential care is appropriate, we request a 28 day stay, but also offer lower levels of care through our partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.
Co-occurring Conditions Are Incredibly Common
It is very common for those who struggle with substance use to also have a co-occurring mental health condition such as depression, anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder, or an eating disorder. An individual therapist is part of each patient’s care team to ensure that any co-occurring issues may also be treated along with the primary addiction.
"Focus and all the staff truly changed my life! They helped me get sober and taught me all the tools that will keep me sober as long as I keep applying them to my daily life! I honestly can't express the gratitude I feel to be living the life I have needed and deserved! Thank you!" - Lorie

The Detox Process at Focus
It takes a great deal of courage to decide to let go of your drug of choice and seek recovery. We understand that the process can bring a lot of uncertainty and fear, particularly around the detoxification process. We are committed to handling each individual with compassionate care as we address his or her specific needs. The average detoxification period lasts between 4 and 10 days but can be longer depending on intensity and substance used. In many instances, we can provide medication support to avoid harsh withdrawal symptoms. In every case, we aim to go above and beyond to keep every individual as comfortable as possible.
