Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
Avoidant restrictive food disorder, or ARFID, is an eating disorder characterized by an ongoing inability to meet nutritional needs due to eating or feeding disturbances. People who struggle with ARFID are extremely selective due to a lack of interest in eating or in food itself, sensory issues such as texture or smell, or concerns about potential consequences, such as choking. Unlike other eating disorders, ARFID is typically unrelated to body image or weight concerns. If you or someone you love is dealing with symptoms like these, our team at Focus is here to help.
