Substance Abuse Treatment FAQ
With years of experience providing successful addiction treatment services, Focus Treatment Center understands the challenges faced by those struggling with addiction in their journey to become sober and stay sober.
Do you utilize a 12-step philosophy?
Yes. We believe that addiction is a disease and that abstinence is the most effective way to manage the condition. Patients will participate in a 12 step meeting every day of treatment, and 90 meeting is 90 days in a part of every patients treatment plan recommendation following discharge.
Is your program covered by insurance?
Yes, we are contracted with many insurance companies such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, United Behavioral Health (UBH) Cigna and Magellan. If your insurance company is not contracted with us, we may be able to make a single case agreement on your behalf. In the instance that insurance does not cover, our admissions team aims to be as supportive and flexible as possible in making treatment accessible and affordable.
How long does detoxification usually last?
The average detoxification period lasts between 4 and 10 days but can be longer depending on intensity and substance used. In many instances, we can provide medication support to avoid harsh withdrawal symptoms.
Do you offer any adjunctive services?
We believe in treating the whole person (physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally). We offer yoga, YMCA visits three times a week, art therapy, nutritional therapy, and weekly outings funded by Focus such as going to the movies, park, plays etc. Our goal is for our patients to learn how to have fun again without their addiction.
How long do people usually stay?
We have a minimum stay of 28 days and offer partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for step-down levels of care.
How many people in a room?
There are two people to a room.
What is a typical day like?
A typical day begins with breakfast, our morning bell ritual, and meditation or yoga. After meditation, patients participate in Primary Group Therapy, followed by self care time, and then lunch. Following lunch, patients participate in a specialized group such as relapse prevention, a community meeting or art therapy. Patients then have free time prior to dinner to complete assignments or go to the YMCA for exercise. Following dinner, patients will participate in an on or offsite 12 step meeting followed by self-care time for assignments or visiting with other patients. Patient schedules are structured and busy; however, we also include adequate amounts of free time for visiting and connecting with one another as well as downtime for all over healing.
Will I be meeting with a psychiatrist?
Upon admission, each patient will have an initial meeting and evaluation with our psychiatrist. After the initial meeting, each patient will meet with our psychiatrist on an as needed basis.
When are visiting hours?
Visiting hours are every Saturday from 1pm-3pm and phone time every evening.
Do you offer treatment programs for family members?
Yes, we offer weekly family therapy with the patient’s individual therapist along with a 3-day intensive family weekend each month. The cost of the family program is $150 a person/ $100 paid in advance. We also offer free family support groups as we believe family programming is essential to full recovery.
